This product has been developed specifically to soft start large single phase compressors and motors. It provides a dramatic reduction in the inrush starting current but still provides full start-up torque for compressors and motors. Single phase smooth starters  will automatically adjust to cover a range of 1.75 HP to 7 HP to provide a sure start soft start. It is fully self-contained in a conveniently small, double insulated and flame retardant enclosure. Diminish dimming lights during AC start-up on utility or generator power.

How it works: 

SmoothStarter is a direct replacement of the start capacitor in your AC unit. SmoothStarter soft starter provides a gentle acceleration up to full speed. Used only at startup to cause a sure start. This gradual start is achieved by ramping up the initial voltage to the motor providing a soft start. This will eliminate light flicker, reduce start-up noise, and extend the life of the motor or compressor. In 8-10 starts the SmoothStarter will achieve full reduction of LRA starting current. The soft start should extend the life of the compressor or motor.
